A few clarifications about how these perpetual licences work, and how they relate to the free Community Edition.
Are these licences really perpetual?
Yes. Each paid edition on this page is a perpetual licence tied to specific major versions
of twinBASIC (for example, v1 only, v1+v2, v1–v5, or lifetime). Once you own a perpetual licence, you can
continue using those versions indefinitely.
How is Community Edition different from Personal?
Community Edition is free, allows commercial use, and includes all core compiler features, but every built
executable shows a 5-second nag screen for 64-bit builds and there are no optimisations.
Personal Edition removes the nag screen, enables optimisations for built-in runtime packages (producing
smaller executables), and adds non-priority email support.
When do I need Professional instead of Personal?
Choose Professional Edition if you need full optimisation of your own code, or if you are selling the software that you create using twinBASIC, or
if you need the ability to run automated / unattended command-line builds as part of a build server,
scheduled script or CI-style pipeline. Personal Edition is intended for manual builds only, and is strictly not for use in creating commercial products.
What does “automated / unattended builds” actually mean?
Automated builds are builds started by scripts or services without a person directly interacting with the
twinBASIC UI - for example, running builds from a build server, GitHub Actions, Azure Pipelines, or a nightly
batch script. This usage is only permitted with Professional, Ultimate, VIP Silver or VIP Gold licences.
How do Ultimate, VIP Silver and VIP Gold differ?
Ultimate gives you a perpetual licence for v1 and v2.
VIP Silver extends that to v1–v5 and includes a swag pack and VIP Discord role.
VIP Gold is a lifetime licence for all future versions, with premium swag!
